One Bad Day
02:24
|
|||
When it goes your way
A well-directed play
Seems the course will stay
Like an act of fate
Then you run your mouth
That's when things go South
And there's no way out
Of this sudden drought
One bad day
And it all cascades
All the things were said
Could have said instead
There's a wall intact
That's got a few cracks
And the things it lacks
And it can't bounce back
It's the thorn in the shoe
It's the dirt in the glue
Don't have a clue
When it seems it's through
One bad day
And it all cascades
All the things were said
Could have said instead
Then you run your mouth
That's when things go South
And there's no way out
Of this sudden drought
One bad day
And it all cascades
All the things were said
Could have said instead
It's a really bad day
It's a really bad day
It's a really bad day

All That's In-Between
03:23
|
|||
We are the beaches at night
We are the aeroplane lights
We are the laughter
That spills from halls
When evening falls
When evening falls
We are the rain-soaked streets
We are the mud on our feet
We are the puddles we all meet
Everyone will meet
And we dream
What we see
And we see
And all that's in-between
And all that's in-between
We are the streets of Hong Kong
We are a series of songs
We are the stories that run so long
That run so long
That run so long
We are the Turkish sun
We are the vital ones
We are the markets of Istanbul
When they are full
And we dream
What we see
And we see
And all that's in-between
And all that's in-between
We are the feel of the breeze
We are the tips of the trees
We are the edges of everything
That's how we sing
That's how we sing
We are the notions of love
We are migrations above
We are the stars on a deep sea
What we perceive
And we dream
What we see
And we see
And all that's in-between
And all that's in-between
And we dream
What we see
And we see
And all that's in-between
And all that's in-between

Three Waterfalls
03:36
|
|||
Step up to that
Fabled mountain stream
Follow it as far
As eyes can see
Everything you took
With you
You will find
No longer need
Look up to
See
Three
Waterfalls
And they fall
Again and Again
Again and Again
Water falls
In its own way
Water falls
And it’s okay
When we’re
Stumbling
Fumbling
Tangled inside
Those long
Dry days
Come back to
Three waterfalls
Nothing solid
In this wavy world
Nothing we can
Hold on to
Floating through
An ancient
River Blue
Everything
Comes back to you
Look up
To see
Three
Waterfalls
And they fall
Again and Again
Again and Again
Water falls
In its own way
Water falls
And it’s okay
When we’re
Stumbling
Fumbling
Tangled inside
Those long
Dry days
Come back to
Three waterfalls
When we’re
Stumbling
Fumbling
Tangled inside
Those long
Dry days
Come back to
Three waterfalls
Come back to
Three waterfalls
Come back to
Three waterfalls

Out on the beach
The people all reach
For bottles of water and
Sandwiches wrapped from home
Don't care to believe
The news they receive
All the memes and bad dreams
Contorting the faces of phones
And when the sky falls again
Into a long long weekend
We’ll gaze through the window
And see how it all will impend
But nothing can shake
The trees by the lake
When seen through the stillness
Successions of seasons and leaves
The cauldrons we fill
With all the bad will
Are drops in an ocean
Of rain down our window sill
And when the sky falls again
Into a long long weekend
We’ll gaze through the window
And see how it all will impend
And when the sky falls again
Into a long long weekend
We’ll gaze through the window
And see how it all will impend
And when the sky falls again
Into a long long weekend
We’ll gaze through the window
And see how it all will impend

They Were Here
03:04
|
|||
The sink was raining
Fanning trickles on the floor
They were explaining
In the living room behind the door
All their journeys
Places we’d never seen before
They were here here here
Once before
Both were fraying
Rugged beard and ragged skirt
Books half-open
On the chair beneath a shirt
The things they mentioned
Fabrics from another time
They were here here here
Once before
And they were here
But it’s over
Packed their things
Before the dawn
They were
Here Here Here Here
Here Here Here
Once before
Voices raining
Insert themselves into our sleep
Seems they’re right there
We can never seem to keep
Silver coins
From the deep
They were
Here Here Here
Once before
I do recall
All of those pictures on the wall
Vacant faces
They never mentioned them at all
The sink was raining
Fanning trickles on the floor
All of memory
Flowing far into the fields
The sink was raining
The sink was raining
They were here here here
Once before
But now it’s bone
Now it’s hollow
Dry to feel
To reveal
They were here
Here here here here here
Once before
They were here
Here here here here here
Once before

Mattery Mind
03:34
|
|||
He could go anywhere
If he could think of somewhere
Runs his hands
Through a frosty beard
As days roll by
Friends he knew
He can see right through
So tough to believe
But he can’t retrieve
Those worlds he moved through
Mind over matter
Chattery kind
Out of the clatter
Of a mattery mind
He says "All I want to do
Is spend some time
In my mind
At the day’s end.
I'm so tired
Of reaching out
To things I cannot mend."
Sweet liberation
In the cessation
Cloud formations
Transformations
Beyond our control
He could go anywhere
If he could think of somewhere
Runs his hands
Through a frosty beard
As days roll by
Mind over matter
Chattery kind
Out of the clatter
Of a mattery mind
He says "All I want to do
Is spend some time
In my mind
At the day’s end.
I'm so tired
Of reaching out
To things I cannot mend."
SOLO
He says "All I want to do
Is spend some time
In my mind
At the day’s end.
I'm so tired
Of reaching out
To things I cannot mend."

He used to sell those stories by the pound
Working in a quaint and cozy town
He was working on a novel ’bout a lovesick clown
Such a long long long time ago
He met a woman turned his life around
His friends would say not up but rather down
And when two children came along his book was incomplete
Such a long, long, long time ago
Well he tried to write with paper from the trees
Just to see the forest for the trees
He decided he would complete his degree
Came home every day a quarter past three
But instead of going to school he was hiding the trees
Such a long, long, long time ago
When she found that he had wasted every day
She gathered up the kids and went away
He put his book into the cabinet filed it away
Such a long, long, long time ago
Well he tried to write with paper from the trees
Just to see the forest for the trees
Now he leads a different kind of life
Now he has a different kind of wife
But his son reminds him of the way he used to be
Such a long, long, long time ago
Now he writes a different kind of book
Or maybe he is written by his own book
And a lovesick clown is dreaming by the candlelight
about such a long, long, long time ago
Well he tried to write with paper from the trees
Just to see the forest for the trees

What if they're just constructs?
If it comes
From within?
Our thoughts may seem like rocks
But a river runs everything thin.
